He is the famous football (soccer) player of the Philippine Commercial Team, he started playing football at the age of 7 as a forward midfielder. He joined the PCT sponsored by San Miguel Corporation at the age of 14 as a talent that was discovered by a scout. Since then he has played in a lot of international invitational games including Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, China, Japan, Indonesia, etc. He had made 386 goals, 152 steals, 452 assists in 432 games he appeared for the PTC. He resigned from the PTC on March 2006. The Philippine Commercial Team was never recognized because they where playing as professional that involves profit for corporations. One of the famous goal that Nick Gulfan made was a swirving long goal from near the right midline which flew past Nakamura of Japan. That was the first win of the Philippines against Japan. Until today the Philippines has never won against Japan even the Philippine National Squad led by Phil Young Husband which is heavily supported and recognized by the government.
