In the myth-like series of stories that have been told about the famous robber-hero, Robin Hood, quite a few interesting characters have been described as joining and living with him in the English woods. Friar Tuck, Little John, Maid Marian, and Alan-a-Dale, among many others, have all been part of Hood's band of 'merry' co-adventurers. In general, the legend has it that he attracted those who wanted to live simply, free from the oppressions of the government, and for the sake of taking from the corrupt rich in order to give to the poor.
Robin Hood was helping the poor.

He lived in Sherwood , Nottingham Forest.
Robin Hood was supposadly based on Robert Fitzdog, Earl of Huntington and Lord of Locksley who was a good archer and lived in the forests giving to the poor In my novel The Robin Hood Chronicles I base Robin Hood on a real Robyn Hod who lived in the 14th century. My reasoning is that in one of the earliest ballads King Edward -- almost surely Edward II -- makes Robin Hood his yeoman. Edward II had a valet and porter named Robyn Hod, and I assume that Robin Hood and Robyn Hod are the same person.
he lived in the forest because he broke the law.
yes, of course he did and they lived happily ever after :)
