Vladimir Lenin, born Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov in 1870, was a Russian revolutionary and political leader who played a key role in the October Revolution of 1917. He was the founder of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic and served as its leader until his death in 1924. Lenin's ideas, known as Leninism, emphasized the need for a vanguard party to lead the working class in overthrowing capitalism and establishing a socialist state. His policies significantly shaped the course of the Soviet Union and global communism.

Lennin along with two others started Pravda as an underground paper in 1912. In 1918 it became the official paper of the Communist Party.
He was influenced by his trips around Latin America, which portrayed the malnutrition, illiteration and opression of the proletariat by Yankee economic and political domination. He was heavily influenced by Karl Marx, Mao Tse-Tung, Lennin etc. The revolutions in China and Russia as well as the attempted revolution in Bolivia and the events in Guatemala educated him in what it would take for a revolution to be successful which was basically warfare. He was also deeply moved by Fidel Castro's determination and confidence.
Vladimir Lenin and Joseph Stalin are significant figures in Russian history for their pivotal roles in the establishment and consolidation of the Soviet Union. Lenin led the Bolshevik Revolution in 1917, which dismantled the Tsarist regime and introduced communist governance. Stalin succeeded Lenin and transformed the USSR into a major world power through rapid industrialization and collectivization, albeit at a tremendous human cost due to widespread purges and famines. Their legacies continue to influence Russian politics and society today.
The February Revolution in 1917 did not affect it at all, because the new Provisional Government kept it going just as the Tsar had done. The October Revolution eventually ended Russia's participation in the war when Lenin entered into the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk with Germany. After that, Germany moved the military forces that were fighting the Russians over to fight the French and English on the western front. That increase in military force could have won the war for the Central Powers but then the United States entered the war and added its forces to the Allies.
