=Actually, Siberia is just a region IN Russia. It did, in fact, stand behind itself!=
They both wanted dominance of the Balkans. Austria-Hungary controlled Bosnia and Herzegovina were there were a large number of ethnic Serbs. So Serbia believed they should control this area. In Russia at the time there was a belief in pan-Slavism (that all the Slavs in the world should help each other, in this case Russia should help Serbia). So when Austria-Hungary threatened to invade Serbia if its demands were not met in 1914 Russia came to help its ally and "Slav brother" Serbia, this would also serve to give Russia dominance in the Balkans.
When Russia started fighting against Germany, Russia's allies (Norway,Austro-Hungarian and England all stepped in to help one by one. Then Russia's allies (America and Switzerland stepped in, leading to the GREAT WAR.
Imagine two big gangs, Franz Ferdinand gets shot, Austria threaten's Serbia with invasion if her demands are not met, Serbia is friends with Russia Russia offers help is Serbia gets invaded Germany offers help to Austria if the Russains aid Serbia Russia is allied with France Germany is allied with Turkey So Austria invaded Serbia, Russia declares war on Austria, Germany declares war on Russia, France gets involved, So as you can see the two big alliances designed so there could never big a big war failed, because once war was declaired all sides had to back there own alliance.
Russia cannot be blamed for World War I. There were various alliances in Europe during the time that would create war due to association. The following alliances existed: Russia and Serbia, Germany and Austria, France and Russia, Britain and France and Belgium, Japan and Britain.

The assassination was the last straw in the disputes between Austria-Hungary and Serbia. Austria-Hungary gave Serbia no chance and made their demands and threatened that noncompliance would lead to an invasion. Russia joined the side of Serbia and France joined Russia. Russia mobilization to the German border brought in Germany. Etc Etc.

No. It is a strong allie of Serbia's and fearful that recognition would set a precendent. It also believes the declaration of independence was illegal.
What actually happened in the Bosnian Crisis:The Bosnian Crisis was happened in 1908.Austria- Hungary was a multi- national empire. Itwas afraid that Serbia would become too powerful and encouraged Slavs in its empire to fight for independence so it annezed the Bosnian- Herzegovina where the population were mostly Slavs to prevent Serbia from occupying these two places. Serbia asked for helps from Russia. As being a Slavic- sate, Russia agreed to help and called a confernece over Bosian Crisis. But Asutria- Hungary refused to attend the conference. Germany asked Russia not to back Serbia. In order to avoid war. both Serbia and Russia backed down and allowed Austria- ungary to annex Bosnian- Herzegovina. This further worsened relationship between Serbia and Austria- Hungary.
Russia came to the aid of Serbia because they were slavs and the Czar felt a special kinship to Serbia and not Austria-Hungary. Austria-Hungary were allied with the Ottoman Empire, Germany and Bulgaria. Serbia wanted its independence from the Hapsburgs and knew that the Romanovs would support them militarily.
I believe your mistaking Russia with Ukraine in which case it would be Chernobyl. Hope that's it.
I believe it would be Kazakhstan.
Had there not been alliances, no one would have stepped in to defend Serbia and negotiations would have continued. But, Russia stepped in and prevented that. It also made the mistake of provoking Germany, who would have stayed out of the conflict, and joining Austria.
