Why did Canada join WW1?

By WW1 Canada was no longer a colony, but was a member of the British Empire. Canada was granted independent status in 1867. As a member of the British Empire, Canada felt it's loyalties were with Britain and so sided with her when war broke out.

Answerbecause they were part of the British Commonwealth along with Austrailia, and New Zealand. So when England Entered World War 1 it brought all three of those countries with it.
because of its loyalty and its strong ties with the British Empire; Britain needed men to fight and naturally Canada and all its able worthy men were more than happy to answer to the call.

Canada fought in WWI because at the time, we were a Dominion of Great Britain, meaning that we essentially did everything they asked when called upon. Although we officially became our own country in 1867, we still had strong allegiances to Britain and thus, when we were called upon to fight along side the English soldiers in Germany, we went along.

Until the Statute of Westminster was passed in 1931 Canada's external affairs were ultimately under the control of the UK. In essence, because Canada was a part of the British Empire, when Britain declared war on Germany and other countries at the time of WW1 Canada was also at war with them.
