King Louis XVI and his family fled to Austria in June 1791 primarily due to the escalating political unrest and threats to their safety during the French Revolution. The monarchy was losing power, and the royal family faced increasing hostility from revolutionary factions. They sought refuge in Austria, where Louis XVI's brother-in-law, Emperor Leopold II, ruled, hoping to garner support to restore the monarchy. However, their escape was poorly executed, leading to their capture and eventual return to Paris.
It had become apparent that their lives were in danger if they remained in France.
Paris, clearly. Where else would they have been imprisoned? If you mean where were they captured after their ill-fated attempt to flee to Austria (June 20, 1791), that would be Varennes, which is almost on the Austrian border. Most of the key events of the Revolution happened in Paris, because that's where Louis transported his court in yet another ill-advised move after the October 5, 1789, people's (sometimes just called the women's) march on Versailles.
Louis was headed for Austria. He was trying to flee, to escape the revolution. He knew that if he made it to Austria with his family, he would be able to enlist the help of the Austrian army as well as others (seeing as though his wife was a member of the Austrian royal family) and fight back against the revolution. He knew that if he got their army involved he would be able to win his country back, however he was recognized when a man in Varennes stopped them and asked for their passports, and saw the King's signature. He obviously hadn't thought that through. lol
Yes, he attempted to flee France and nearly made it to the border, disguised, with his family, as a servant, but was caught and sent back to Paris.
Due to the French Revolution. The third estate (the bourgeoisie) wanted to rid France of the Monarchical system (thus, King Louis XVI and his wife Marie Antoinette). To do so, they had to make sure that the Royals knew this third estate was an enemy to be reckoned with. They eventually imprisoned the Royal family to let them and the rest of the world see that the people had won it from their monarchs.
a) It was Louis XVI. b) He was stopped at VARENNES.
King Louis XVI (Sixteen,) fled with his wife during the French Revolution. His wife, Marie Antionette, was attempting to flee to her native Austria (where she is a member of the royal family.)

The Girondins didn't want or have to prove the royal family guilty. Everybody accepted the guilt of the king and queen as a fact after their flight to Varennes, in which they tried to flee France into Austria so that they could use foreign assistance to attack the revolutionary government. In fact, the Girondins were the people who were against King Louis XVI's execution. The Girondins wanted the king to be exiled. It was the Jacobins who got Louis executed.
On 21 June 1791.
King Louis xvi was accused of treason. He tried to flee his country to Austria, trying to regain his power after the "Storming of Bastille" and the "March on Versailles". His people found him and his family trying to escape and they were then then arrested and brought back to France. They made King Louis promise to change the laws. He agreed. But when the meeting was called to fix Frances financial crisis King Louis had vetoed every solution that was brought to him. The people of France then decided that he had no use to the country and he was sentenced to death. The "Guillotine".
It just made his situation worse. The French king as going to ask asylum of the old enemy, Austria, to escape the crimes he was accused of. That made the revolutionaries quite angry.
That was on June 20/21st 1791.
He never even went to Germany. He tried to flee FROM France TO the Austrian army, who were allied to the Prussians, who were German.
Well, it wasn't exactly Austria they intended to flee too, their destination was the town of Montmedy, a town near the friendly border of Austrian Belgium (so Belgium, but at that time that country was owned by Austria). Unfortunately, they were arrested at a town called Varennes.

The death of King Ptolemy caused the Auletes to flee Egypt.
