Colonists did not understand the land as Aboriginal people did. They wanted to turn Australia into the same farming produce type land that Europe and UK was. So they had to introduce plants from UK and Europe. This did not always work well as Australia has a very different climate than that of Europe and the UK.
This was the same reason for the introduction of animals into the Australian continent. Cattle, sheep, birds and rabbits were introduced. This had a devastating affect on the country.

Introducing new animals or plants into an ecosystem can disrupt the existing balance, leading to various ecological consequences. Invasive species, for instance, can outcompete native species for resources, alter habitats, and introduce diseases. This can result in a decline or extinction of native species and can significantly impact biodiversity and ecosystem health. Ultimately, such changes can have cascading effects on food webs and ecosystem functions.
Plants evolved before animals.
The animals that were brought with the colonists were not native to the land and the colonists allowed them to roam around the colony. When they did this the animals would eat the crops the Native Americans were growing. This caused a problem between the two groups and if one of the Native Americans killed or hurt one of the animals the colonists would charge them for the animal and all the offspring of that animal. Not only were the colonists bringing nonnative animals, but they also introduced plants and insects into the environment trying to create another England. The honey bee was the most destructive insect introduced to North America and essentially the colonists practiced environmental terrorism against the Native Americans.
