It is supposed to stop the shell from cracking...it sometimes works sometimes it doesn't,depends how hard you drop your eggs in the pan.
Fresh eggs float in salt water because the density of salt water is more than the density of the egg. But fresh eggs do not float in fresh water because the density of water is less than that of the egg. Salt increases the density of water.
This had to do with density. When you put the egg into the water, it sinks as it is more dense than the water. However, if you add salt in the water, it becomes salt water and makes the water more dense than the egg so the egg can float. It is the same reason why people float in the dead sea. The dead sea is very salty and is more dense than humans. That's why we float so well in the dead sea.
The babies will probably die in the egg and never hatch. If the egg hatches, the baby fish will be born dead or die on impact with what would be "alien" water to them.
To preserve foods one must get 5 gallons of ocean water in a sanitary bucket. put the bucket of ocean water in the sun until all of the water has evaporated. Remove the salt from the bottom of the bucket and put in a airtight container. Keep repeating this until one has enough salt to pack around the food one wishes to preserve.

It is commonplace to put salt in water when boiling most foods. The reason why you put salt in with boiling water and vegetables is to help them retain moisture.
adding salt raises the boiling point of water which can help speed cooking time.
the outside of the egg will be hard because the egg will be boiling
Put salt in the water
It floats.
it makes the egg float
yes because when u put an egg i regular water it sinks but when u put a egg in vinginer and salt it flots because the salt holds it to the top !
u put it in boiling water u IDIOT
If you put an egg in salt water for a week, the egg will begin to undergo osmosis. The salt concentration in the water will cause water to move out of the egg, resulting in the egg shrinking and becoming smaller in size. The egg's membrane may also become translucent or appear to be semi-transparent.
The egg should have its water or substance in the egg come out through the cell membrane. :)
When an egg with its shell removed is placed in salt water, the water will move from the egg into the salt water due to osmosis. This will cause the egg to shrivel and shrink in size as water leaves its membrane to balance out the concentration of salt inside and outside the egg.
Adding salt to water when you boil foods is for the purpose of flavor only. I don't add salt to water when boiling foods. That began because of a low sodium diet but now if salt is added to the water the food tastes too salty to me. If you add salt or how much salt you add is a personal choice for your taste preference.
