Saudi Arabia location as shown on the related link, is in part, responsible for the hot temperatures during the summer months. A desert has little moisture and can heat up very fast. It also will cool quickly, mean that the evenings temperatures can be quite comfortable. Saudi Arabia is located north of the equator so the hot months are from about March to October, and during the other months, the temperature can be moderate to a bit cold (10 - 15 deg C). I have been there in November and had to wear a jacket during the early evening hours. There have been some extreme temperatures recorded in desert areas, up to 133 degrees! This occurs during the middle of the hot season, when it is extremely dry. So wind patterns, lack of water, location of the country, and the desert geography all contribute to a hot summer period.
