The things women were not allowed to do varied from place to place and from time to time.
In some places women were not allowed to be the monarch, and in others they were. France did not allow female monarchs. Denmark also did not allow female monarchs, but that did not prevent Queen Margaret I from ruling for over two decades. England and Scotland allowed female monarchs, but there was only one in England in the Middle Ages, who gave up her claim to end a civil war, and there were none in Scotland. Some of the Spanish kingdoms, Poland, and the Byzantine Empire all had female monarchs.
In some places, women did not own land, but in others they did. France, which did not have female monarchs, did allow Eleanor of Aquitaine to be a duchess in her own right.
Women were not allowed to be members of the secular clergy (bishops or priests), but they could be members of the regular clergy (abbesses and nuns).
There was no legal reason why a woman could not be a knight. Eleanor of Aquitaine went on the crusades, leading her own company of 300 women. Other women also went into combat, but it was very rare.
Women certainly did not have a right to inherit land or titles if they had brothers who were living. The land and titles went to the oldest son in most places, though there were some where land was divided equally. Men, aside from the eldest son, were similarly out of luck.
Well in the renissance there was a system called the feautal system. Which was like, The top of the feautal system was like the most respected, the crown. Or king and queens. And then there was the middle, which was like the people that were respected but werent all that special, but they got alot more than peasants. The bottome was the peasants that were used as maids. And that's what happened that changed Europe is because there was people that were more respected just because they had alot of money, and could afford things that other people couldn't. So people got annoyed and then when they disobeyed most of them got killed and stuff, and it all changed. And other things that i will let you read. The link is at the bottom. Hope it helped.How_did_the_Renaissance_change_Europe
