In 1846, the popular Royals, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, were depicted in illustrations in the London News standing with their children around a Christmas Tree. As a result the Christmas tree became popular both in Britain and also with fashion-conscious East Coast American Society.

Prince Albert was credited with introducing the Christmas Tree into the United Kingdom, the Tannenbaum ( lit Fir Tree or Pine tree)- the song does not ONCE mention either Christ or Christmas- is of course a Teutonic custom and was introduced into the United Kingdom by Prince Albert in Victorian times. Charles Dickens, who penned (A Christmas Carol)- the Scrooge saga in l843 spoke of the Christmas Tree ( of the record, not in the Scrooge tale) as ( a pretty German Toy). H"mm when Dickens said that, the Camera had not yet been invented- now we may be worthy of the promises of Zeiss, or Leica, Exakta, etc...
