E-waste (Electronic Waste) is one of the fastest growing wastes filling up our landfills. Various components in these electronics are toxic and poison our land, air and water.

In 2008, there were 4.6 Billion Pounds of E-waste in the United States. However, less than 900 million Pounds (19%) of that waste was recycled. Most of it ended up in landfills either in the United States or was shipped to other countries such as China, India, Malaysia, and Pakistan.

Many countries are beginning to outlaw the import of E-Waste which is creating a need for much more domestic recycling. In the United States, as a result of new state and federal regulations along with additional public awareness, the need for plants capable of processing electronic waste has increased tremendously. Currently, the supply of electronic waste greatly exceeds the total processing power of recyclers within the United States and this divide is growing ever faster as regulations further restrict the export of these materials and as new techniques and technologies make the process more sustainable.

A fast growing company that is working to make a difference in the United States is All Green Electronics Recycling. They offer free service and have over 100 drop-off locations and do free pick-ups all across the country. Check out www.allgreenrecycling.com or call (800)780-0347
