Queen Elizabeth II became Queen of the United Kingdom and Head of the Commonwealth on February 6, 1952. She turned 86 on 21 April 2012.

She celebrated the Diamond (60th) Jubilee of her reign in 2012, including an official Jubilee Weekend on 2nd-5th June. She is head of the British Royal Family, and has 4 children, 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchilden. She is the 32nd great-granddaughter of King Alfred the Great who was the first effective King of England 871-899. On 21st December 2007, she became the oldest reigning British monarch, having outlived her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria (who died 22nd January 1901 aged 81 years, 7 months and 29 days).

On 12th May 2011 Queen Elizabeth II became the 2nd longest reigning monarch in over 1,200 years of British History. She will have to reign until 10th Sept 2015 when she will be 89 years old to have reigned longer than her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria who reigned for 63 years and 216 days from 1837-1901.

Prince Philip

The Queen's husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh celebrated his 91st birthday on 10th June 2012. He is the longest ever serving Royal Consort and oldest serving spouse of a reigning British monarch.

Prince Charles

Her eldest son Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, was 63 years old on 14th November 2011. He is currently the longest waiting and 2nd oldest ever heir to the throne. His second wife is the Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla Parker-Bowles, who turned 65 on 17 July 2012.

Anne, Princess Royal

The Queen's only daughter, Princess Anne, turned 62 on 15 August 2012. Her son Peter Phillips is the eldest grandchild of the Queen. Her daughter Zara is the eldest granddaughter of the Queen.

Prince Andrew

The second son of Queen Elizabeth, the Duke of York, turned 52 on 19 February 2012. His ex-wife Sarah Ferguson (Duchess of York) turned 53 on October 15, 2012.

Prince Edward

Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, third son of the Queen, turned 48 on March 10, 2012.

Prince William

Prince William, older son of Prince Charles, turned 30 on 21 June 2012. On 29th April 2011 the Queen's grandson, who is 2nd in line to the throne, married Catherine (Kate) Middleton in Westminster Abbey. They are now the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Prince Harry

Prince Henry of Wales, younger son of Prince Charles, turned 28 on 15 September 2012.
