Henry did what all the Kings and Princes did,especially with the money from the monasteries and nunneries, he stole it, for himself and the nobility. All over Europe it was the usual thing from the people who held power to rob the Church! It wasn't the English Monarch only that indulged, one of the reasons for thee dissatisfaction with the Papal Court was their constant demand for money. Take a look at the legislation passed in Henry's time and see what the fuss was over,it was over money in the main. Not that Henry took it, but that he wouldn't let foreign bodies,i.e. the papacy help them selves. Finally we have to see that Henry was a sick man, not for the silly reasons his religious opponents give, but because he'd suffered a tremendous accident. From that time Henry was something of an imbecil, suffering brain damage during that time according to Collier he was exploited by his friends who milked him of money and land.
