South East Asia Treaty Organisation (SEATO) was the, to be brief, the south eastern version of NATO in that it was formed to combat the spread of communism in the region. It ended after the Vietnam War and never became big like NATO because there were only 8 countries in it and they lost interest in it.

Cyprus is not a member of NATO or SEATO (Southeast Asia Treaty Organization). While it has a partnership with NATO through the Partnership for Peace program, it is not a full member due to the ongoing division of the island and its complex geopolitical situation. SEATO, which was established in the 1950s, is also not relevant to Cyprus, as it focused on Southeast Asia.

NATO my answer is: NATO [ europe ],SEATO [asia] n OAS [ Latin America]
SEATO was the Southeast Asian counterpart to NATO in Europe. It was an alliance of nations formed to prevent Communist expansion in Southeast Asia, but it was not as successful as NATO. South Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos fell to the Communists some twenty years after SEATO was created, and the organization was dissolved in the 1970's.
The SEATO was basically formed to eliminate any chance of communism spreading to Southeast Asia.
