When God created everything in the beginning He only gave man a soul.
Genesis 2:7 "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into His nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."
The soul throughout scripture is synonymous with the person. Animals do not possess such personhood, nor can any scriptures be produced which show this. It is part of eastern religious philosophy but is not in the Bible.
Thus, according to Bible only people have souls.
I have only ever found one reference to animals having souls.
Ecclesiastes 3:18-21. Solomon says ," I also thought ,"As for men , God tests them so that they may see that they are like animals. Man's fate is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath man has no advantage over the animal. Everything is meaningless. All go to the same place; all come from the dust and to dust return. Who knows if the spirit of man rises upward and if the spirit of the animal goes down to the earth?
Answer:The biblical Truth is: we don't HAVE a soul... we ARE one.The soul is quite "mortal"... not "IM-mortal." A study of the original word God "inspired" to describe man, "nephesh," has taken quite a beating by modern professing Christianity, as well as all the other false religions in the world who believe in the false doctrine of the "immortality of the soul" - the philosophical view first introduced to Eve by Satan in Genesis 3:4... and expanded upon by human philosophers, the likes of Plato, Socrates, Aristotle, etc.In the King James Bible, the first time the translation, "soul," is used by the translators... is in reference to Adam:"...and the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a LIVING SOUL (nephesh)." (Gen.2:7)However... the word, "nephesh" is inspired by God in the FIRST chapter of Genesis - IN REFERENCE TO FISH - which the translators saw fit not to translate, "soul"!"...God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving "CREATURE" (nephesh, soul) that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven." (Gen.1:20)Strong's Definitions says: NEPHESH: "...properly, a breathing creature, i.e. animal of vitality; used very widely in a literal, accomodated or figurative sense...".In the KJV, however, "nephesh" is translated in any number of different ways - first, as "creature"... then, of man, as "soul" - but throughout the Old Testament as: "any, appetite, beast, body, breath, creature, dead(ly), life, lust, man, me, mind, mortally, one, own, person, pleasure, (her-, him-, my-, thy-)self, them (your)-selves, + slay, soul, + tablet, they, thing...".There is absolutely no connotation to immortality connected to the Hebrew word, "nephesh"... SOUL!Man IS a soul... he doesn't HAVE one. We live and have our being by "breathing" and by a self-contained and pressurized circulatory system that needs to maintain a certain "blood-pressure."God tells us: "...the LIFE (nephesh, soul) of the flesh is IN THE BLOOD... for it is the LIFE (nephesh, soul) of all flesh; the blood of it is for the LIFE (nephesh, soul) thereof... for the LIFE (nephesh, soul) of all flesh IS THE BLOOD thereof..." (Lev.17:11&14).If we stop breathing... or lose blood pressure... WE'RE A DEAD SOUL... CREATURE!Now, we HAVE a SPIRIT IN US... which is our "intellect" or "mind" which works in conjunction with our "grey matter"... the brain."...be renewed in the SPIRIT of your mind..." (Eph.4:23).But, nowhere in the Bible does it say that we ARE spirit. A total of seven references to man's spirit in the Bible say we HAVE one IN us."...But there is a spirit IN man..." (Job 32:8)."...the spirit OF man is the cradle of the Lord, searching all the inward parts of the belly." (Prov.20:27)."...with my soul (nephesh) have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit WITHIN me will I seek thee early..." (Isa.26:9)."...the burden of the Word of the Lord... which stretcheth forth the heavens... and FORMETH THE SPIRIT OF MAN WITHIN HIM..." (Zechariah 12:1)."...for what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man WHICH IS IN HIM..." (I Cor.2:11)."...Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that DWELLETH IN US lusteth to envy?" (James 4:5)"...for that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast... all go unto one place; ALL ARE OF THE DUST, AND ALL TURN TO DUST AGAIN." (Ecclesiastes 3:19-20)Right now... and until our "change" comes... we are DIRT! And when we die we (the real, mortal creatures that we ARE) "sleep" until the prophesied "resurrection" takes place at Christ's return."Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it." (Eccle.12:7)Be careful with that, now! It doesn't say "good spirits go to heaven and bad spirits go to hell."It's ALL spirits of dead people return to the Creator... regardless of the lives they led. The coming Judgment will sort out the particulars on that "Great Day."
One of many answers, and hopefully, the right one:
All living things have souls in the sense that they have life. One of the many definitions for soul is "life-force". Soul what keeps the body alive. However, only man has a spiritual soul- a being that is both spiritual and physical, a soul that is immortal, made in God's own image.
However, depending on the denomination you could believe that all conscience things have souls. I believe that dogs and cats have souls. That's just my opinion; it is said that only humazns do and we can only go to his kingdom
people can influence living things because we are living therefor other living things listen to our influence and stuff
people and other living things get carbon from the continuous exchange of carbon among living things (the carbon cycle).
christianity is based off all different kind of things such as food and living.
According to Christianity, no, God was the creater of all things.
Because people has life and the species that have life can live, so we are called living things :))
God is the highest power. Love God and your neighbor (fellow living things).
the four types of living things is animals, plants, people, matters
The term that refers to the spread of people living in a given area or how the population is arranged according to characteristics like age, race, or gender is "demographics." It involves analyzing statistics and patterns related to human populations.
Taxonomy is the science that finds patterns of living things, and classifies organisms according to those patterns.
One of the living things is trees. Without trees we can not breathe.
According to scientists, for a thing to be living it needs cell, tissue, organ and an organ system. Things without even one of these are considered non living. Also a need for water.
