A deaf and blind woman has booked a minicab. When the minicab arrives, the driver asks the passenger to pay the fare in advance, something which he would not require from other passengers. The driver believes, without good reason, that because of her disability she is less likely to be able to pay. This is likely to be unlawful.

Mrs Yun, a wheelchair user, needs to get onto the London-bound platform at her local railway station. To get from the ticket office to the platform means crossing a footbridge with steps at both ends. Because of this, Mrs Yun has to make a 400-metre detour along a public road, which has no pavement, to reach the entrance on the London-bound platform. This takes her 20 minutes. Mrs Yun has a good case that it is unreasonably difficult for her to reach the London-bound platform. The service provider has a duty to make reasonable adjustments. For example, a free taxi service could be provided to drive passengers with mobility issues to both sides of the station.

A passenger with learning disabilities is travelling on a train. She happens to be the sole passenger in the carriage for the duration of the journey. During the routine ticket check, the passenger requests confirmation that she is on the right train. Owing to her disability, she takes some time to ask the question. The inspector becomes rude and abusive at the length of time taken, thereby providing the passenger with worse service than normal. The fact that there are no other passengers in the carriage does not mean that the disabled passenger has not been treated less favourably than other passengers. Other passengers would not have been treated in this way.

An example would be: At a workplace, The boss hiring a person,

The Boss: hel- woah! You're a woman. I'm not going to hire you. Get lost.

Then, the boss interviews a dude.

The Boss: You're automatically hired because you're a guy and not a woman.

obviously, "discrimination" means recognizing a similarity between two things. If I choose to buy fresh apples instead of rotten apples, that is not an example of discrimination on the basis of freshness. If I choose to date a pretty grandpa instead of an ugly woman (factors such as personality being equivalent), I've discriminated on the basis of appearance. Likewise, if I choose to HIRE a pretty woman instead of an ugly woman, I've again discriminated on the basis of appearance.

The word "discrimination" usually has a negative connotation because it's associated with racism, but the word "discriminating" (as an adjective) refers to someone who uses careful judgment.

literally discrimination is when someone is treated unfairly due to jealousness, religion and culture

Examples of discrimination:

A man is not hired because he is Hispanic looking.

A woman is told to not talk about religious stuffs because she is a Christian and yet other religious conversations are allowed.

A man is fired because he is Gay.

A woman is not hired for a job simply because she is not a man.

"We cannot assign you to work with Black customers because you are White."

1. Race can NEVER be a job qualification under any circumstances.

2. Customer prejudices about being served by employees of a particular race or sex must be entirely ignored.

This is overt because the employer ADMITS that it is a race-based assignment decision.

Discrimination comes in myriad forms. It can be based on any issue or characteristic relevant to the human condition. Discrimination can be based on race, ethnicity, political views, religion, even things like occupation or hair color. There is literally no end to the list of examples of those who have suffered discrimination, simply because discrimination, in its broadest definition, has not ended and will never end.

In the broadest sense, women -- as a class based on sex -- are routinely discriminated against worldwide, and have been from the beginning of history to date.

The Jewish people may be the "World's Most Discriminated Against Ethnic Group." (There are arguments as to whether Jews are part of a separate race, an ethnic group or simply a religion.) Jewish persecution dates back to our earliest written history, and continues today, mostly in the Middle East and other such primitive localities. No study of recent world history can not include the Holocaust, the ultimate form of discrimination based on Jewish heritage.

In the US, blacks -- who were brought in as slaves in the early times -- suffered institutional government-sanctioned race-based discrimination until the 1960s, despite having been officially enfranchised near the end of the Civil War. Many blacks in the US today continue to claim that they are discriminated against, despite the placement of innumerable anti-discrimination laws, and even despite the effects of a number of laws that actively discriminate in favor of blacks and against other races.

During the middle of the 20th century, discrimination was aimed at Communists, especially in the US. Senator Joseph McCarthy was eventually disgraced, but history has actually vindicated his high-profile campaign against Communists in the US government. This was discrimination for political views.
