You will have to give us a hint about 302. We get questions from every US state, and several foreign nations. 302 can be anything from illegal restraint in Maine to Dowry Murder in India, to a small V8 engine made by Ford.

First, a disclaimer- I am NOT a lawyer, I am a gun collector. As I understand the PA law, 302 refers to being involuntarily committed for psychiatric care.

There are a couple of matters involved here- getting a license, and hunting. For the license, check with the PA Dept of Natural Resources.

However, HUNTING implies weapons. A person that has been adjudged mentally incompetent may not, under FEDERAL law, possess a firearm or ammunition. Anywhere in the US. Title 18, section 922, US Code.

IF you have completed treatment, and have been discharged, you can discuss with your doctor applying to the state for relief of this restriction. How well that will succeed, I do not know. You WILL need an attorney for that. If your commitment was recent, it is unlikely to be approved.
