He confessed to 30 homicides committed in seven states between 1974 and 1978. He decapitated at least 12 of his victims and was actually incarcerated in Utah in 1975 for aggravated kidnapping and attempted criminal assault before anyone knew he was a serial killer. In his first trial he got two death sentences. On February 10, 1980 Bundy was sentenced to death by electrocution for a third time.
Ted Bundy usually strangled his victim then raped the body. He would also beat them to death and some victims had sharp cut in them. His teeth proved to be the best evidence in the Bundy's case as he bit his victims.
Bundy contained his killing to the US. As to the total number of victims, it may never be known. Bundy refused to give an accurate total before his execution in January of 1989.
I believe that was Florida State University located in Tallahasse FL.
stragled or bludgened with a hammer.//Bundy's favored method was to first gain control usually by bludgening with a crowbar he kept in his infamous Volkswagon Bug. The murders he committed at the sorority house in Florida he used a piece of wood he had found right outside the house. After being hit over the head the victims were strangled as they were raped by Bundy. Teddy also had the pecular fetish of nechrophilia, returning sometimes weeks after dumping a body to have sex with it over and over again.//Every recovered skull, except for that of Kimberly Leach, showed signs of blunt force trauma. On death row, Bundy admitted to decapitating at least a dozen of his victims with a hacksaw.
He was. Lynda Healey disappeared on August 31, 1974.
Victim selection is somewhat of a mystery, many times even to the killer himself. Many serial killers choose victims that fit a certain physical criteria that appeals to the killer. Ted Bundy's victims had obvious similarites, dark hair parted in the middle, and of college age (usually). Dr. Helen Morrison, in her book My Life Among The Serial Killers, put forth an interesting theory. She feels that some victim selection may be similar to the physical attraction that happens between two people as they meet and fall in love. The 'spark' of some kind of chemical and/or physical reaction when people are attacted to each other romatically. It seems like a sound theory. Footnote:The exception to the above victims is Kimberly Leach, the 12 year old who had the misfortune of being Bundy's last kill. It also should be noted that Ann Marie Burr, a young girl living in Tacoma, WA, is believed by many to be Bundy's first victim. The Burr's home was in the direct path of 14 year old Bundy's paper route. Ann Marie was abducted from her bedroom in 1963. Her body was never found, no arrests have been made. Bundy denied he killed her even as he was escorted to Florida's electric chair.
no, they kill them.
Ted Bundy kept misleading the authorities trying to get out of execution and for certain no one knows his motivation. He said bad porn made him do it but hundred of people watch bad porno and they don't become a serial killer. //Scientifically speaking, there are still many 'unknowns' into the minds of killers like Ted Bundy. But evidence seems to point to early childhood. Many killers, Ted Bundy included, are thought to early on combine sexual impulses, violence and a strong need to dominate another human. For Bundy in particular, he was aroused sexually, not by the raping of his victims, but watching the life go out of their eyes as he killed them. Believe it or not, this was Bundy's motivation to kill over and over again. Even when he realized that eventually he would be caught, he did not stop. Not that he couldn't but that he didn't want to. In Bundy's case, he paid the ultimate price, that of his own life.
Stephanie Brooks was Bundy's on/off girlfriend for several years. Brooks was very worried after reading about the killer's description in the papers. She thought that it sounded like Bundy. After talking to the police, they reassured her that it was probably not her boyfriend, and she left the station feeling at least somewhat relieved.Brooks and Bundy were sweethearts while both were attending college but she broke it off with him and returned to her family in California. Bundy never got over her entirely. They eventually reunited and were engaged for a short while. Then Bundy broke it off, some feel just to get even when she broke his heart.During this time, Bundy had begun to kill young college girls, and as the body count rose, the Brooks/Bundy relationship went south.

Considering the fact the Bundy had a difficult time with the truth law enforcement has a good idea of the states where he committed his murders. Washington state, possibly Oregon, probably Idaho, Utah, Colorado, and Florida. Although this may seem extensive for one serial killer to have killed in so many different places it is common for this type of killer to move around alot. Bundy spent so much time in his car just driving around looking for potential victims. There have been several long-haul truckers that were able to move around freely leaving a trail of bodies in their wake. As the date for his execution grew closer, Bundy tried to bargin with police. He would tell them where more bodies were to get a stay of execution. Police thought he had enough time since he sat on Florida's death row for almost a dozen years. No deal. Bundy kept his date with 'Old Sparky' in January 1989.
The main theory is that Ted Bundy learned that the woman he thought was his sister was actually his mother, leading to a mental break that set the stage for his killing spree.
