That was a genocide made by Stalin, USSR leader, to annihilate Ukrainian nation. There died around 10 000 000 people, starving, including 3 million kids. It all last only 17 months and it was the most horrible crime that happened in the History of the World.
I would say yes as to the question of whether or not what occured in Ukraine was genocide. I you look at the political makeup of prerevolution Russian, through the revolution, ect. I would start by reading Kruschevs material. He gave interviews which were later on published, that describe what his job and others jobs were in the agricultural dept(so to speak) of the u.s.s.r, I would then back track through stalins way of acheiving things and how people were picked to fill this position and role in their country. I would say it was genocide because of the lack of focus on food stuffs and the principal focus being simply on production and acheiving it. by focusing on work not necesasrily on living standards or accomidations one could see clearer on the subject. cannibalism occured rampantly amongst other things yet the gov. of that country perisisted in things such as the subway system in moscow, building a larger and stronger military, ect. ect. ect. They showed in the end that unless you worked in the gov. or the politburo, you weren't high on the food chain and in general food was not actually a constant focus. THere are alot of things on all of this but unless you read all material without opinion and forget what you think you are being told you won't understand what was actually going on. secrecy was, has been, and still is a way of life in Russia. The caged up personality people exibit inthis country goes back further than the colonization of America and has many reasons. ex. Ivan the terribles actions, peter the greats actions, catherine the great, peter the 2nd, nicholas the 1st, 2nd, the bolshevics, stalins purge, one might even include the monguls who once inhabited russia was well as the ukranian region. have fun studying but look long and hard for real facts.
The Ukrainian genocide, also referred to as the Holodomor, was from 1932-1933.
death
No.
Vasyl Plyushch has written: 'Genocide of the Ukrainian people'
The mass starvation in Ukraine resulting from Joseph Stalin's economic policies is known as the Holodomor. This man-made famine occurred from 1932 to 1933 and was a result of forced collectivization and grain requisition policies that aimed to suppress Ukrainian nationalism. Millions of Ukrainians died as a consequence, making it one of the most devastating famines in history. The Holodomor is recognized by many countries as a genocide against the Ukrainian people.
Neither are going on right now, both have ended.
They both suck. Also the usa had to put up with it.
Genocide is the deliberate and systematic destruction, in whole or in part, of an ethnic, racial, religious, or national group. The term "genocide" was coined by Raphael Lemkin (1900-1959), a Polish-Jewish scholar, 1944, firstly from Latin "gens, gentis" meaning "birth, race, stock, kind" or the Greek root "genos" with the same meaning; secondly from Latin -cidium (cutting, killing) via French -cide.Genocide does not necessarily have to mean killing or massacring by murder or military action. Genocide can come in various forms including: starvation, deplacement, serious bodily or mental harm, lowering quality of life to the point where the culture is unable to sustain itself and grow, imposing measures to prevent birth within the group or forcibly transferring children of the group to another group. Some examples of genocide include: transatlantic slave trade, genocide of the Native Americans, the Herero Genocide, the Armenian Genocide, the Great Famine/ Ukrainian Genocide, Rape of Nanking, the Holocaust, Mao Tse-Tung's Cultural Revolution, the Cambodian Genocide, Genocide in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Rwandan Genocide, and the Genocide in Darfur.
Millions of Ukrainians died in the 1930s primarily due to the Holodomor, a man-made famine orchestrated by the Soviet government under Joseph Stalin. The famine was a result of forced collectivization policies, grain requisition quotas, and the suppression of Ukrainian culture and identity. These policies led to widespread starvation, with estimates of deaths ranging from 3 to 7 million people. The Holodomor is recognized by many scholars and countries as a genocide against the Ukrainian people.
Primarily starvation, deportation to gulags, and a shot to the back of the head in a prision was used. Brutall and efficent, this is typical of Stalin. This genocide is a major reason bettwen animosty bettwen Russia nad the Ukraine.
10 000 000 people, and 3 000 000 children among them. Mostly they were Ukrainian villagers, people from cities and some intelligency.
The holocaust only saw 6 million people dead, but it was the Ukrainian genocide that had almost 10 million people brutally slaughtered. Also the Rwandan genocide saw 8 million people killed.Actually the holocaust had anywhere from 11 million to 17 million killed. 6 million of them were Jews.
