The statistics are the product of The Geneva Declaration on Armed Violence and Development, lead by Switzerland, and many of the countries in the report were not signatories to the organization until after 2000. Their statistics show that Swaziland lead that year with 88.6 per 100,000, followed by Columbia at 63. The next closest countries were Honduras and South Africa, both at 50 per 100,000.
