The seven seas are known today as; (1) Caspian Sea (2) Persian Gulf (3) Black Sea (4) Red Sea (5) Mediterranean Sea (6) Arabian Sea (is part of the Indian ocean) (7) Indian Ocean The reason why pirate preferred these seven seas is because they were all mainly used for trading purposes by merchants. Merchants, obviously being the best target for pirates as they would carry the most valuable commodities.
