I pay around $90 every 2 weeks for a basic plan (self only) with pretty bad coverage (just paid 50% of bill for minor surgical procedure). My brother, an nypd cop, pays nothing and gets great coverage. However, the TSP (401k) program that we have is great, which makes up for a horrible pension. When I first joined I was very surprised with the crappy benefits and pension plan, especially when most people who join also take at least a 50% pay cut from previous occupations.
