The best way to stop a collection agency from contacting you is to write them to stop collecting you. It really is that simple after you write to them they are required by law to stop calling.
The most common complaints about the Harris Collection Agency are related to aggressive debt collection tactics, harassment of debtors, inaccurate reporting of debts, and lack of transparency in their communication and processes.
Sue them for wilful noncompliance and harassment.
Only the IRS
I think you are technically allowed to sue anybody for anything. That does not guarantee it you will win the court case, however.
Well, check your states statute of limitations. If the SOL is up then tell the company to stop contacting you are you will sue them for harassment based on the fact that they have no claim under your state's SOL. The collection agency will try to say you still "owe" and I guess you do if it is your debt but you no longer have any legal obligation to pay.
They stop collecting
Just call your phone co and have them put a block on the calls
Yes but if you tell them to stop they have to comply.
When the harassment results in a tangible employment action regardless of whether upper management had knowledge of it is when an agency is automatically liable for harassment by a supervisor.
I do not know if you can sue them. But I also am being harrassed by a collection agency in Florida called OSI/Gulf State.I filed a complait with the FTC (federal trade commission). You can also write the collection agency a letter to cease communication. Which means to stop calling you. You can request only to be contacted by mail. I am new to this also. You can find alot of info out at www.ftc.com I hope that this helps. Unfortunately what you may see as harassment, may not appear the same to a judge. You can send them a cease and desist letter. Or simply not talk to them. Caller ID is a useful tool against collection reps. So is voice mail. You can report them to the State's Attorney General, and other agencies. Be advised that this will not stop the calls. If you live in a state that allows taping of phone conversations, it would be a good tactic. Be sure of your legal status first though.Good Luck!
A Commercial Collection Agency is and agency that collects debt on behalf of their clients, same as a consumer collection agency, but a commercial collection agency collects business to business.
Remit a "cease and desist" letter to the agency via registered mail with receipt requested.
