The basic answer is yes. Since 9/11 and the new laws a police officer or Govt. Agency can hold you for 24hrs. without charging you. If you feel they did this just out of spite with no apologies from the the detaining officer then you have to get a lawyer and file a claim with the F.B.I. make it a Federal Case and have them investigated for Racial Profiling during a traffic stop. Yes they do keep statistics on these types of incidents. On a more local level if it is a city police officer, start at the top, report it to the mayors office first because the Chief of Police answers to the mayor and City Council. Then report it to the chief of Police, then report it to Internal Affairs if they have one. If it is a County Sheriffs officer report it to the County Sheriffs office and internal affairs. County Sheriffs are normally elected officials so they have an Internal Affairs Office which is a permanent position that stays no matter who the county sheriff is.
A police officer can detain you on the side of the road for a reasonable amount of time to conduct an investigation. However, detaining you for 2 hours without a valid reason or probable cause could potentially be considered unreasonable and violate your rights.
This is typically covered under implied consent laws, which state that by using public roadways a driver agrees to submit to chemical tests to determine their blood alcohol concentration or drug presence if lawfully requested by a police officer. Refusing to take such tests can result in penalties such as license suspension.

In Louisiana, it is legal to take roadkill deer provided you obtain a permit from the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries within 24 hours of harvesting the animal. You must also provide specific information about where and when the deer was found.

It depends on what lights and how near to what type of road. Police are held to the same laws that civilians are and different departments have differents regulations that affect police procedure. Whats a requirement by a city officer may not be by a state officer on the same highway.

There are no such laws. A police officer can check your speed anywhere along the roadway. If you're in excess of the posted speed for that stretch of road, and they pull you over, it's a ticket.
how does road trauma affect police
I know in my expierience with law enforcement it's called a speed trap, however, I have never heard of a situation where the person speeding was pulled over 30 minutes later. That is a big gap leaving room for error in vehicle tracking. But to answer your question one police officer running radar may have you locked in as speeding when you pass his location and pass it on over the radio to another officer down the road. I work on a military installation and we have had speed enforcement events where we would have one police officer shooting radar and a another police officer directing the vehicles speeding into a parking lot and another police officer cutting the tickets.
Road police, air police (you get to go in helicopters and stuff), and residential police, which is where you go round doing house raids to find drugs and stuff. There is also I think patrol police, where you patrol round town, etc. Hope this helps! :)
