A sixteen year old girl is emancipated as far as decisions concerning the baby. For example, she decides whether or not to keep the child, whether or not to have an abortion, which doctor she sees, and what medications she takes while she is carrying the child. Her legal guardians are still responsible for her in all things except those which concern the child.

Is a pregnant 16 year old girl automatically made emancipated from their parents?

No, pregnancy itself does not automatically grant emancipation from parents. Emancipation is a legal process where a minor becomes independent of their parents and assumes adult responsibilities. Pregnancy may impact the court's decision on emancipation, but it is not automatic.

If a girl gets pregnant is she legally emancipated from her parents?

No, becoming pregnant does not automatically emancipate a minor from their parents. Emancipation is a legal process that must be granted by a court or through marriage, reaching the age of majority, or joining the military, depending on the jurisdiction. Pregnancy alone does not typically grant emancipation.

In Washington state can a pregnant 17 year old girl leave home without being emancipated?

No. Being pregnant/giving birth does not give a minor any additional rights. They are still subject to the control and authority of their parents until they reach the age of majority (18) or they are legally emancipated. And by the way, being pregnant makes it much more difficult to convince a court to emancipate you.

Can you get emancipated if you have a child?

Contrary to popular belief, simply becoming a parent does not make a person emancipated. Generally speaking, the only way to become an emancipated minor is by order of the court (and not all states have emancipation laws), getting (legally) married, or joining the military (which minors need parental consent to do).

Can a 17 year old pregnant girl get married without parents?

Most parents will consent to marriage if their daughter is pregnant. If this is not the case however you will have to wait until you have you baby. When you have your baby you are automatically emancipated and are considered an adult and then you can get married without consent. You are only medicly emancipated, your parents still have legal control over that. You would have to get a judge to overturn your parents desision which is hard to do.
