It really depends on your state's laws, but in PA if you were driving a stolen vehicle and could prove somehow that you didn't steal it and you did not know it was stolen you could receive one of the many different Theft charges which are mostly Felony 3 (3.5-7yrs or up to $15,000 fine) or "Unauthorized Use Of A Vehicle" which is a Misdemeanor 2 (1-2 yrs or up to $5,000 fine). With no record and a good lawyer you could probably get off with a fine and probation though.
