Some advantages are the duribility: the fabric is commonly used in seat belts and tire cords. There are variations of luster, the fabric can be dull or extremely lustrous. You won't get any abrasions from the fabric, hence the usages of nylon in carpet fibers you can still get minor abrasions from a carpet made from nylon but in comparison it is less rough polyester. The fabric is easy to maintain. It does not burn like other fabrics, instead it melts.

Some disadvantages include its arch enemy "Oxidizing agents" and being subjected to high levels of moisture. Environmentalist reject the idea because it is not biodegradable.
