As a locket expert, I find that most mass-made consumer lockets can be opened by putting your fingernail in the seam that is opposite at aprox 2 o'clock. . Simply wiggle the nail until the locket pops open. Some are tighter than others, but they always open. Some lockets open from the bottom, as the hinge is at the top. These are the easiest to open as they are generally staying shut because of gravity itself. These are generally the hand wrought ones. I am a locket expert, because I happen to run a website that sells lockets almost exclusively. www.heartsmith.com . Our website recently published a video on YouTube.com. It deals with putting a photo inside the locket. It shows how to take out the plastic inserts, measure for the photo and put them back in. Very fast and informative. If anyone is interested in viewing this video, please copy and paste this link into your webrowser: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=heartsmith.com&search=Search Good luck and if you have any questions about lockets, you may email me through our contact form at the website. -Lauren http://www.heartsmith.com.
