I believe that it is a possibility for them to be allergic to the aspen bedding. That or it is too dusty for them. I have two piggies and one of them sneezes when i use aspen bedding, but the other is perfectly fine. I hope that it isn't anything more serious than needing to buy a different type of bedding.
No, it is not recommended to use pine bedding for guinea pigs. Pine shavings contain aromatic oils that can be harmful to guinea pigs and may cause respiratory issues. It is best to use paper-based or aspen bedding for their living environment.
It is not recommended to use carpet as bedding for a guinea pig. Carpets can harbor bacteria and be difficult to clean properly, which can lead to health issues for your pet. It is better to use safe bedding options specifically designed for small animals, such as paper-based bedding or aspen shavings.
Yes use pine bedding NOT sawdust it is very bad for there lungs if you need any advice on guinea pigs contact a guinea pig rescue not a pet store
Use it as their bedding, but there's nothing to stop them eating it if they want.
Pime bedding is really the best you can get. You can get it at your local feed store. pine bedding and cedar should not be used for guinea pig bedding because the oils can irratate them and cause respiratory problems which can be serious. I reccomend asphen for your pet guinea pig.The best bedding is hay wood bedding solf cotton bedding
yes they can but they prefer hay which i use as bedding.
You should not use cat litter, pine shavings, or cedar shavings. It would be better and healthier to get a guinea pig a different bedding.
Yes, you can use cloth for bedding for your guinea pigs. Just make sure it is clean, soft, and absorbent. Avoid using materials that can cause choking or gastrointestinal blockages if chewed. Regularly clean and wash the cloth bedding to maintain hygiene.
no but it is in there better nature to have it. because they will be mopre at home if they have the bedding
yes, this is actually very environmentally friendly. Just be careful to change the newspaper frequently, as not to develope any odor. Also, if the paper get too wet, and the pig continues to walk on it, they will get sores on their feet. They also might eat the paper, but this is pretty much harmless to then (although I do not recommend it as food).
I would have to say fleece is better. It cuts down on the dust for guinea pigs, the bedding does not get stuck in their fur, it is easy on their feet, and the top always stays dry. Note: Do not use regular detergent to wash fleece. Use vinegar and a gentle, scent free detergent (like oxy clean or tide free). Also, fleece is more effective if your guinea pigs' cage is large and there are not many guinea pigs (1-3 guinea pigs). MAKE SURE YOU GET EVERYTHING OFF THE FLEECE BEFORE YOU WASH. Your guinea pigs will be as happy as ever with fleece.
if its beding is hay then yes it normal for any g-pig to eat hay But you should NOT use hay for bedding. Hay is to eat, you should use either aspen (NOT pine) or recycled paper bedding that you buy at the pet store. Improved: Actually, it is normal for guinea pigs to eat their bedding. I know that it is gross, but guinea pigs are supposed to eat their droppings because it gives them necessary nutrients that they don't have time to absorb the first time it goes through their bodies. Recycled paper bedding at the pet store is the best, and the best kind of hay is the KAYTEE brand Timothy hay. Hope that this helps!
