The American Opossum (Didelphis virginiana) will DEFINITELY kill chickens. I have caught them in the act many times. Although they usually prefer carrion, slugs, fruit and vegetables, they are quite capable of killing chickens, due, in part to the fact that roosting chickens are quite docile.
