I feed my dog the Avoderm Chicken and rice formula and have had no problems. It has helped with his Allergies and he loves it! Here is a link to their website which discusses the safety issues and how they deal with them http://www.breeders-choice.com/dog_products/avoderm-natural-and-avocado-safety.htm

The above link is anecdotal and misinforms. Persin is found in fruit and is oil soluable so it will be found in higher concentration in the oil than the whole fruit. Just because no problems are noticed doesn't mean the length and quality of life are not affected. No one knows how the poison works or what the toxc amounts are or whether the effects add up over time. Decreased exercise capacity may be attributed to age when it could be the cumuative effect of avacado oil exposure. I think it's foolish to feed a poison to your dog when no one knows the long term effects. See the discussion.

Avocados contain monounsaturated fats, which are considered heart-healthy, rather than saturated fats. While they do contain some saturated fat, it is in a small amount and is not the primary fat type. The healthy fats in avocados can support overall health when consumed in moderation, so they can be included in a balanced diet without the need for strict limitation. However, it's important to consider overall dietary patterns rather than focusing solely on individual foods.

Unfortunately, L-carnitine come mostly in animal products. It is commonly found in beef, pork, milk, chicken, fish, eggs, and cheese. Still, L-carnitine can be found in some vegen foods. Those are avocado, asparagus, bread, cooked rice, and orange juice. While it is not as abundant (beef is 95 mg per serving, while per serving avocados are 2 mg and rice is 0.0449 mg), L-carnitine can still be found in vegen foods. Even so, it is still good to take a vitamin that contains some L-catnitine in it just to help.

lipids are fats found in food. some foods that contain lipids are cheese, cakes, butter, chips etc. they are broken down by pancreatic lipases in the small intestine and also bile salts which help to emulsify the fat. (bile salts act as a kind of detergent breaking the fats up into tiny droplets.)
