Taiwan has adopted policies similar to those of the European Union. An animal being imported from a rabies infected country, such as the United States, must not only have a rabies certificate, but must also be microchipped and have a rabies titer. It usually takes about six months of preparation for the titer and other paperwork to be able to import an animal from a rabies infected country to a rabies-free country (like Taiwan) without quarantine.
