Aardvark is an animal native to Southern Africa and outside the Roman Empire. There is no common word for the animal in the Latin language as it would have been rarely encountered, if at all, by Romans. There is no Latin word for the animal.

Perhaps, if the animal were to be seen, it could be called "ferus" or perhaps "fera", both referring to wild beast or wild animal such as a boar.
