it depends on where your working. I have seen trainers who make up to 200 dollars for teaching a dog the very simple command 'sit', and make even more teaching behavioral things, but I've also seen trainers make as little as 50 dollars per day. Try researching where you live, and what are the common prices for training at pet stores, shelters, and other places. The vet sometimes has a list of local trainers where you can check their prices.
'If you ask me a dog trainer should make up to at LEAST up to 30dollars an hour at least if you know how long it takes to train a dog.' It's pretty hard to train a dog!
It takes someone to get well it depends on how many people want there dog to be trained!
This really depends on the dog trainer; how good they are, how many customers they have and how much they charge are all factors in how much they make.

  • I think business sense in Dog Training is very important, but what all answers have left out is education and skill. Although there are few requirements to start a Dog Training business, a formal education and understanding in the science of animal behavior not only effects success in training, but also annual or hourly income. In our area, professional dog trainers who own their business charge between $60 and $125 an hour, or $120 for a class series. Trainers who work for a business and watch a 6 hour video as a form of education make something close to the hourly wage stated in other answers.

The average hourly wage is $10.60 (U.S.) which would total $424 per week or $21,200 (U.S.) per year.

    Other contributors have said:
    • The weekly salary is probably about 300$ a week
    • Being a dog trainer is like anything else, you may be good at it, but unless you are good at business you will not do well. Myself, I took home well over six figures last year in my dog training business and most dog trainers could do the same if they just learned the business end of training dogs.
    • Many jobs like that end up being more of a business rather than an hourly wage. If the business owner is motivated he/she can make much more money than someone who just goes into it thinking that he/she will "earn" a certain amount per hour. If you're good and good at marketing your service, you'll make more money.
    • ''Not much!''
Very honestly, once you take into consideration the fact that we need to rent a place to hold classes, pay for advertising, purchase supplies, cover utilities, etc... there isn't much left over. At my business we offer grooming and Photography in addition to training. There's no way we could stay open if training was all we did.

This article states they make more than $500 a week. http://answers.Yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080303110611AAqHsaS
