It sounds like you may have a 'youth' saddle. A pony saddle is pretty small and you would be able to tell right away that it was meant for ponies. A youth saddle is meant for that in-between stage when the rider has outgrown a pony saddle and is still to small for a full sized horse saddle. To find out you can measure the saddle's tree. Take a tape measure and start at the pommel and run the tape to the cantle. This will give you an idea of the size of the tree which is what the entire saddle is based on.
You can use a western saddle on any breed of horse or pony providing they have been trained in western riding.
These are the steps for taking of the saddle. Always make sure your horse/pony knows where you are when taking off the saddle. Hope they help. 1. Take of the girth by unbuckling the girth straps underneat the saddle flap. 2. Gently lift the saddle of the horse/ponies back. You can take the numnah off aswell. 3. Take off the girth sleeve. Put the saddle away. 4. Check your horse/pony to see if he has girth galls, saddle sores or scratches. 5. Groom your horse/pony.
What you need for a pony is the same this as you need for a horse. Some things are: Saddle (english or westen) Girth, Bridal (english or western) brushes, hoovepick, saddle pads, halter, leadrope, food, stable and a big field for it to run and exercise (and to ride it) treats (optional) mounting block (optional) I have a horse. These are some things I have for my horse.
your not sopose to. but yes if it is a thin smaller saddle pad you may. you can NOT! i repeat NOT! aloud to use a English pad for a western saddle as this pad may be too small for the saddle and with bridged the withers and back of the horse. be carefull on what you use on your horse! i reqamend to buy a western saddle pad if you are planing to ride western.
Her pony's name is Starlight; a buckskin gelding.
David Christie sing a song named "Saddle Up (And ride your pony)" but a song by the title of "Pick another horse to saddle up" couldn't be found
Horse life, Friends Forever, Pony Luv, Me and my Horse, My Western Horse, My horse and Me: Riding for Gold and Petz Horses 2 My Western Horse is the only "true" western horse riding game though.
Try this- get a crop. VERY important. Then, put a dressage saddle on the horse (or western, the heaviest one you have lol) and mount the pony. Be flexible, and NOT stiff- also very important. When he goes to buck, sit back in the saddle and give him a good kick in the ribs (this worked on my horse that loves to buck). If a kick doesn't work, give him a good smack with your crop. Don't be afraid; do you think that a crop would hurt your pony more than another pony kicking him, full blast in the paddock? Hope this helps. ^^
A painted pony is a horse that has the characteristics of a western stock horse with the pinto spotting pattern of white and darken colors. They share a common ancestry with the American Quarter horse.
to vault on a horse in mounted games or Prince Phillip cup games you have to get the horse/pony to trot alongside you when you are running at it's shoulder. then put your right hand on the pommel (the front of the saddle) and your left hand on the pony's mane. then face the front of the horse and jump along trying to swing your legs upover the saddle. keep praising the horse as you go along and talk to it. GOOD LUCK!!
to measure a saddle you need a measuring tape and follow these steps: 1: put the tape on the D ring on the pommel of the saddle(the rind at the front of the saddle) 2: now measure from the D rind to the middle of the cantle (the back of the saddle) 3: now in inches write down the recording! NOTE: THIS ONLY WORKS FOR ENGLISH STYLE SADDLES! NOT WESTERN STYLE!
Bridles Bridles are used to guide the horse or pony, as the reins are attached to the bit which goes into his mouth. If you tug gently on one side, the horse or pony will turn in that direction. Bridles can also be used to attach blinkers which can be helpful on a busy road. Blinkers cover the side of the eyes so that the horse can't see traffic and therefore does not spook at vehicles and bikes. You can also attach martingales to a bridle. The other end of a martingale clips or Velcros onto the saddle girth and stops the horse or pony throwing its head up. Saddles Saddles help the rider stay on, as they can balance themselves in the stirrups and grip with their knees. If there wasn't a saddle, riders could easily slip off. Girths are provided to hold the saddle on. There are a range of saddles such as jumping - useful for getting or knees into grip, dressage - a comfy saddle for sitting work and general - a normal saddle for all differnet types of riding!
