well if your cat peeed in it yes but I think the sand in the litter box isn't poisonus try checking on the label of you have a cat.

Its not poisonus even IF the cat pissed in it. just tastes bad, on that note why the hell do you need to know?

Most kitty litter is made of loose granular materials that the cat recognizes as a substitute for the sand or dirt that it would normally use. Sometimes manufacturers will add material such as baking soda to absorb odors, but generally the clay or silica gel crystals will absorb most of the ammonia smell from the urine. Contact with these minerals are not known to be toxic to the cat or humans.

However, cats can have Toxoplasma gondii parasites from eating wildlife. Humans with a healthy immune system can fight off this parasite that causes toxoplasmosis. BUT the fetus inside a pregnant woman CAN NOT. That is why pregnant women should NOT CHANGE KITTY LITTER! In the unlikely event of toxoplasmosis, a pregnant woman can experience a miscarriage, stillborn birth or other complications.

Yeah cat's actually prefer that. The only problem is it will smell a little bit more than usual cat litter.
