There are several good names for puppies, but you should take into mind to not name the puppy something that it will grow out of. A lot of people make this mistake, and as their dog ages, the name doesn't fit.

Consider names like:

Lady

Whatever you pick, it's best for it to be a two-syllable name because that is what dog's respond to best. Since commands are usually one words, you shouldn't have a one-syllable name for your dog.

As a 20 year Vet and six year Dog Whisperer, I can tell you that Chihuahua's like human nicknames. The smaller the Chihuahua, the bolder the name should be. If you have a two pound female Chi, I recommend the names, Big Guy, Cooter, Thor, Kane, or Bubba. Trust me, your dog and you will both enjoy the name every time you say it!

It really depends what breed and what you yourself want to call it. Personally I've always wanted a black greyhound that I would name Orchid and a fawn greyhound that I would call Butters. And I think the name Rosie or Dolly is cute on Cavaliers. I'm also fond of the name Cricket, I think it's cute.

But you could always look to other sources for information, characters in favorite movies, characters in favorite books, you could even go for favorite food or just a random item...although it's better to keep the name short and with vowels because vowels sound less harsh.
