As of October 2021, cheetahs are listed as "Vulnerable" by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Their populations are declining due to habitat loss, human-wildlife conflict, and poaching. Conservation efforts are ongoing to protect their habitats and mitigate threats, but their future remains uncertain. Some subspecies, like the Northeast African cheetah, may face even greater risks and are considered "Critically Endangered."

Unless you're a big land owner in Africa, pretty much the only thing you can do is to try to find a trustworthy organization that work with cheetah conservation and protection, and donate money to them.
The jaguar is listed as Near Threatened.
It has two defense mechanisms. Speed - it is the fastest animal on earth. So, no animal can chase and catch an adult cheetah. However young ones aren't as fast and are fairly vulnerable Camouflage - the skin of the cheetah is golden brown in color with black spots. This is similar to the color of the grasslands where they live and hence it is not so easy to spot a cheetah.
