Aristophanes of Byzantium invented punctuation. Originally, there were three dots used, each appearing higher. The highest dot was the period or 'full stop'. The middle dot was a colon (or "Kolon", though it acted as a semi colon, however that is a part of more advanced punctuation that came to be later on) and the lowest dot (Which looked like a full stop) was the comma (or "Komma") However, you can find all of this by simply using this thing called 'Google'.
