If I understand your question correctly, arcing is when an electrical charge jumps inside the distributor from the main electrical prong to the prongs that supply electric power to the spark plugs.
Hope this helped,
Evan
A Maytag gas engine has become a popular antique for collectors. The gas engine was once manufactured as a washing machine engine first when Maytag produced the first generations of washers.
diesel and gasoline engines
A gas turbine engine will usually yield more power by weight than a piston engine. Main downside is that it can't be throttled very well. Energy efficiency isn't all that good to start with, and will drop right down if it has to be operated outside its optimum range.

a compressor does work on the gas , raising its pressure and temperaturea turbine does the reverse , it expands the gas as it passes through the turbine, extracting energy from the gas to do mechanical work. For a typical jet engine , the flow track on a compressor is of a converging cross section while is it diverging for the turbine, which is as per gas dynamic laws. The Turbine does two things here in the jet engine, one ,it runs the compressor and two, expands the gas to the propelling nozzle which produces thrust by accelerating the gas upto its exit.
Open up the engine cover- observe the coil when the engine is running-give it some gas- if you see arcing on the coil- this is your problem-I had a similar problem in rain especially-this solved it Open up the engine cover- observe the coil when the engine is running-give it some gas- if you see arcing on the coil- this is your problem-I had a similar problem in rain especially-this solved it
A gas only engine has a spout where oil is added to the engine. If there is no spout, then it is a gas/oil engine. FYI - gas only engine is a four-stroke (four-cycle) engine and the gas/oil engine is two-stroke (two-cycle).
No gas in the engine
I had the same problem. My solution was the coil was arcing (more with high humidity) and had to be replaced. Take the cowl off to view your engine look for arcing on the coil. Its a tough DIY job as you have to disconnect throttle linkage. Take it to a shop $150 bucks is what it cost me. Astroman
it is a old time gas Engine.
No you can not use gas engine oil in diesel engine oil because processing of diesel engine is different from gas engine oil. If you use this then it damage your vehicles.
Arcing is electrical current jumping across a gap, or creating an arc, as in a spark plug firing, or lightning arcing across the sky.
There is gas pouring on the engine. You have a fuel leak.
Shorted out spark plug wire. Boot that goes down into the top of the engine onto the spark plug sometimes gets brittle and cracks causing arcing to the head and/or valve cover
Iodine in a gas tank will run the engine. It will cause rust, and will corrode the engine to the point that the engine will seize.
I'd first start by checking for arcing in the distributor, coil or wire. Try looking under the hood while someone starts the engine IN THE DARK. Arcing shows up quite easily. Also, make sure the rubber hood seal is installed on the top of the firewall to keep water out.
Your engine can misfire and a code will not show if: 1 your could be arcing if they are laying across each other 2 the wires are arcing against the engine or other metal object 3 one of your spark plugs is fouled and is not firing the cylinder 4 one of your plug wires doesnt have a good connection with plug or distributor 5 possibly a crack in the distributor cap 6 possibly faulty rotor within distributor cap
