The Canadians make a very small open seat single helicopter called a "Mosquito". It is a single place and open seat . It uses a 27Klg(60lbs.) Zozerottera Italian engine, that produces 60 horse power. There are so very many variables that determine needed horse power that the question it's self have many different possibilities, Weight, density altitude, rotor design and length all factor in, but it looks like anything down to about 40HP could fly.

How a helicopter engine works?

In a very similar way to ordinary aero engine. There are internal combustion engines which work on the induction, compression, power and exhaust system, linked through a gearbox to a shaft which drives the prop. Or the jet version which works by hot gases turning a turbine, which has a shaft running through the middle, again linked through a gearbox to a shaft which drives the prop. This is called a turboprop.

How does a piston moves downward in d suction operation in a 4stroke engine?

The piston is moved by the connecting rod which in turn is moved by the crankshaft. It is only on the power stroke that the piston moves the connecting rod, crankshaft and all the rest of the engine, in all the other strokes the engine, crankshaft and connecting rod move the piston.

What is an piston cooling oil nozzle?

It is a little nozzle which is pointed towards the beneath of a piston in an internal combustion engine. It is linked to the pressurised side of the oil system, so cool oil coming directly from the oilcooler will spray onto the piston and cooling it instead of just cooling around the cylinder. This enables the engine to run a much more efficient combustion without the chance of melting a piston or overheating the engine which could lead to engine failure.

WHAT IS expansion stroke?

The expansion stroke is a phase in the four-stroke engine cycle where the combustion gases expand, pushing the piston down in the cylinder. This occurs after the power stroke, where the fuel-air mixture has been ignited. During this stroke, the piston moves from the top dead center to the bottom dead center, converting thermal energy from combustion into mechanical energy. This process is essential for generating the power needed to drive the engine.

What are bent engine pistons?

A bent engine piston is a reference to the piston rod. The piston cannot be bent, but the piston rod can be bent.

How does a Helicopter engine look like?

A helicopter engine typically resembles a compact, cylindrical design, often located in the helicopter's fuselage or mounted on the rotor mast. Most commonly, they are either turboshaft engines or piston engines, with the turboshaft featuring a series of components such as a compressor, combustion chamber, and turbine. The engine is usually equipped with various cooling and lubrication systems, and it may have an exhaust section that directs hot gases away from the helicopter. Overall, the design is engineered for efficiency and power, facilitating the rotor system's operation.

What is piston and its function?

piston is a plunger that moves ups and down in the engine block.the function of the piston is to compress air mixtures in the engine block

What is zero clearance engine?

In an engine, the piston's go up and the valve's that are adjacent to that piston go up. When the piston goes down the adjacent valves go down. This is achieved by the timing belt or chain and the engine timing being set correctly. If the belt or chain breaks, the pistons still go up and down, but the valve's stop moving. On a non clearance engine, the piston will go up and hit the valves, resulting in bent valves and a now needed head job. In a clearance engine, the top of the piston has an inset cut into it that is just enough room to avoid hitting the valves.
