bleed is amount of steam output from turbine through pipe and exit from final stage of turbine . this bleed enter to feed water heater (low and high) and deaereator to increase unit efficiency

or rather bleed is the amount of steam drained out of the steam turbine during the expansion of steam and this rejected heat energy is used to heat the feed water supplied to the boiler...........

What is controlled and uncontrolled extraction in double extraction steam turbine?

The extraction of steam can either be controlled or uncontrolled. In an uncontrolled extraction the pressure of the extracted steam will decrease with an increase in extraction flow from the turbine. In a controlled extraction the extraction pressure is kept constant as extraction flow is increased or decreased.

What is difference between radial flow turbine and axial flow turbine?

in a radial flow turbine the steam enters the turbine in the direction of its radius and leaves it in the direction of the axis of the shaft. in a axial flow turbine the steam enters the turbine in the direction of the axis of the shaft and leaves the turbine in the same direction.

What is the difference between 500MW and 600MW power station?

The ans is with respect to Thermal Power plants: the basic difference between a 500MW plant and 600MW palnt is in the turbine design. the 600MM turbine has 1 HPT, 1IPT and 2 LPTs, 2 Condensors and a generator. the 500MW turnbine has 1 HPT, 1IPT and 1 LPT, 1 condensor and a generator. HPT: high pressure turbine IPT: intermediate pressure turbine LPT: low pressure turbine

What is the difference between back pressure and absolute pressure in steam turbine?

Back pressure is the small amount of vacuum that is created when the used steam condenses from the turbine back into re-usable water.

Difference between francis and kaplan turbines?

The comparison kaplan and francis hydro power turbine is as under: 1. Efficiency of Kaplan hydro power turbine is higher. 2. Kaplan turbine is more compact in cross-section and has higher rotational speed to that of francis hydro power turbine. 3. In Kaplan turbine, the water flow is axia and in francis trubine it is radial. 4. The runner blades in the kaplan turbine is less in number. 5. Specific speed of Kaplan turbine is 2 to 3 times that of Fancis turbine. 6. Friction loss in Kaplan turbine is less. 7. Francis turbine requires medium head while Kaplan trubines are low head hydro power turbines.
