I'd love to hear an answer as well. The wife won't listen to me when I say we are stupid for paying for 2 separate policies.
I think if a wife loses her health insurance, she should not have to force her husband to add her to his policy, the husband should have added her from the beginning, cost or no cost.
Yes! If she has a state-funded insurance also, the husband's coverage will be secondary.
If both husband and wife are covered in health insurance policy, then they are entitled to a family discount the quantum of which vary from company to company and is deducted from the total premia amount.
The husbands own insurance would be primary, and his wife's would be secondary.
You should be able to get Individual Plan for each of you. Group Insurance - No.
If the husband is the nominee of the wife's life policy, and in case of later's eventuality, he can claim the insurance proceeds and the Insurance Co. is legally bound to pay to the nominated husband.
The Wifes
A husband is not legally responsible to have health insurance for his wife. Many employees opt not to have health insurance for themselves. Health insurance is a voluntary election and no law exists making it otherwise. However, do be aware that any medical-related debts incurred by one spouse are considered "common" debts, and as such, the other spouse is legally required to pay for them. In the event of a divorce, said debts would be even divided between the spouses, even if only one spouse incurred them.
No.
Unanswered questions in The Wife's Lament include why her husband was exiled, why was a plot formulated to separate the husband and wife, and are they ever reunited.
If you are currently covered on your wife's health Insurance as well you should be fine.
Why would the wife want to do that? Check the Family Law Code in your State - she's probably responsible for any debts that her husband incurs. Check with the Insurance Company - they will probably write a separate policy for the husband. If's it's group insurance - he's probably entitled to his own policy under COBRA - once COBRA expires - he's probably entitled under HIPAA
