That statement seems to be false. The Indian Rebellion of 1957, also known as the Sepoy Mutiny (a sepoy was an Indian soldier), seems to have been motivated by many things, but definitely the main point was not trading rights.

Realistically, probably not. It is possible that WW2 could have been, though, had the terms of the Treaty of Versailles been somewhat more reasonable. The insistence on extremely punitive terms for Germany more or less ensured that there would be a second war.
