President Truman, a man not fond of Communism, hinted at and essentially teased Stalin over the US's possession of Nuclear Weapons (this is prior to the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki). When Stalin asked for a working bomb, or even just the plans: Truman refused. After World War II ended, relations between the US and USSR were icy at best, and tensions continued to mount: with Germany and Eastern Europe became a land-grab between the two powers.
