In order of secession from the Union, the states which became the Confederate States of America (aka CSA aka "the Confederacy") were:
1. South Carolina (December 20, 1860)
2. Mississippi (January 9, 1861)
3. Florida (January 10)
4. Alabama (January 11)
5. Georgia (January 19)
6. Louisiana (January 26)
7. Texas (February 1; referendum February 23)
8. Virginia (April 17; referendum May 23, 1861)
9. Arkansas (May 6)
10. Tennessee (May 7; referendum June 8)
11. North Carolina (May 20)
Note that the attack by South Carolina forces on Ft. Sumter started April 12 of 1861 and Lincoln's call for 75,000 volunteers to serve for 3 months to suppress the insurrection occurred 3 days later on April 15, 1861. It was only after that request for forces that Virginia, Arkansas, Tennessee, and North Carolina voted to secede from the Union
The Confederacy was comprised of Alabama, Georgia, South and North Carolina, Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee and Virginia. The American Civil war lasted from 1861 to 1865.
We are a band of brothers and native to the soil
Fighting for our Liberty, With treasure, blood and toil
And when our rights were threatened, the cry rose near and far
Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star!
Chorus:
Hurrah! Hurrah!
For Southern rights, hurrah!
Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star.
2. First gallant South Carolina nobly made the stand
Then came Alabama and took her by the hand
Next, quickly Mississippi, Georgia, and Florida
All raised on high the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star.
Chorus
3. Ye men of valor gather round the banner of the right
Texas and fair Louisiana join us in the fight
Davis, our loved President, and Stephens statesmen rare
Now rally round the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star.
Chorus
4. Now here's to brave Virginia, the old Dominion State,
With the young Confederacy at last has sealed her fate,
And spurred by her example, now other states prepare
To hoist high the bonnie blue flag that bears a single star.
Chorus
5. Then cheer, boys, cheer, raise a joyous shout
For Arkansas and North Carolina now have both gone out,
And let another rousing cheer for Tennessee be given,
The single star of the Bonnie Blue Flag has grown to be eleven
Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia were all states in the CONFEDERACY!
All the others, such as Maine New Hampshire Vermont New Jersey New York Rhode Island Connecticut Pennsylvania Ohio Michigan Illinois Indiana Kansas Iowa Minnesota Wisconsin Oregon California Delaware Kentucky Missouri and Maryland.
Many people fought for the confederacy because they were against the union, because the union disagreed with slavery. Many of slaves were forced by their masters to fight. And Indian tribes such as the Cherekee helped too. Of course people in the south did too, including nearly 300 women who pretended to be men just to fight! Much of the rich people in the south didn't fight, but they hired and payed poor people to take their place.
