There were LOTS of military strategies and actions in WWII. Some include D-Day, atomic bombings of Japan, island warfare in the Pacific, and loads more. You could write an entire book on the question.
We really got involved in the war after Pearl Harbor, which I'm sure you're learning about already. Things were brewing globally for about a decade until we got involved, and when we jumped in there was a lot of things to get done. D-Day was a risky decision and many great soldier died for a global freedom. I think this should be praised. That's only my opinion though.
The Pacific warfare was a little more debated because it was a different strategy. In Europe, there was a lot of land warfare (tanks, foot soldiers, etc), but in the Pacific, there was naval, and air war, which was somewhat harder to map out. The biggest criticism in the pacific though was the dropping of the atomic bombs. The options were either a full scale land invasion of the Japanese homeland which would take a long time and cost both sides thousands of lives, similar to something like the beaches of Normandy of D-Day, or swiftly end the conflict by dropping the atomic bombs.
Ultimately, it's YOUR opinion that your teacher wants. I just wanted to help out a little. History and WWII are fun topics. I hope you discover that.

They should be praised. The only negative strategy was leaving the soldiers on Wake and the Philippines to fend for themselves. That was wrong. But all the other strategies saved western civilization as we know it today.
The involvement was to stop the spread of Communism into the whole of Southeast Asia. It failed to succeed in Vietnam but did win in the larger context. Praising the US might be a stretch, but certainly is should not be condemned for its efforts.

General Grant allowed the soldiers to keep their horses, as he knew they would need the animals to help plow the fields when they returned home. Also, officers were allowed to keep their side arms. General Lee praised General Grant, saying his actions at that time would help to heal the country's wounds.
=It can be perceived in two ways, as a moral, to honour someone, e.g God or to be honoured is something 'glorious' and somewhat of moral value as well, e.g. to be honoured for doing something good, which is also based on moral [values].==In terms of it being a value, the amount of honour you get can stand as a value. E.g. Mary got praised and honoured for something 5 times, while John got honoured 3 times. That is how honour can stand as a value.=
The Caning of Charles Sumner showed that the North and the South were deeply divided. Northerners were outraged at the caning and Charles Sumner became a martyr in the North.
