Well, the Japanese weren't exactly thrilled, but the rest of the world gave 99.9% approval. Maybe the Soviet Union was a bit disappointed because they hadn't taken much territory from the Japanese yet and would have had a greater post-war influence in Asia if they had been able to participate in the occupation.
They think Americans are hypocrites because north Korea wants nuclear weapons but we don't want them to have it because we are afraid they will attack us or others but America is the only nation that has nuclear weapons (but they are not planning on using them) so we are respected but alot of people do not like America.
Something peaceful would never have worked. The Japanese people thought their Emperor to be almost god-like and it took an atomic bomb to wake them up. We also rebuilt their cities after we destroyed it. I have been to Japan and have heard the older people come and tell me they are not upset with America over the atomic bomb. They were sad to lose all of those people, but it sent a powerful message that their countries leader was wrong.Japan declared war on us when they attacked Pearl Harbor. If we didn't do anything drastic afterward, our country would appear weak and it would open us up to more terror. Just my thoughts.AnswerI believe that the Atomic bomb was unessercery as Japan were about to surrender. the thought that Japan were hard fighters and may have been very worshipful to their Emeror may have scared the US but it should not have resulted in the Atomic Bomb. It may be that Japan were wrong about their beliefs but still, people should not be punished and discriminated by what they think and believe. The atomic bomb destroyed homes and families. why should anyone go through such pain? you would not like it if you got discriminated because of your beliefs and faith. so why do it?I agree there was some reason to the dropping but there was no reason to drop an untested bomb on a country that is about to surrender.
The atomic bomb made countries be less eager to go to war. The threat of the bomb was too great, as many lives could be instantly lost in the hands of the wrong people.
Countires will have a race to build atomic bombs of their own, or fear the U.S. but only one is highly likely.

Most think he was not wrong about dropping the atomic bombs.
Most people think so.
There was a mixed reaction At the time it happened however people every where were happy as it signified the end of WW2.
This question doesn't have a yes or no answer. You can't say that dropping two atomic bombs that killed hundreds of thousands of innocent people is right. Yet you can't say that saving probably over a million of soldiers lives by dropping the bomb wasn't right. Dropping the atomic bombs has it's pro's and con's.
Eisenhower, MacArthur, I think Patton was already dead by then.
mostly because of the civilian casualties, the illnes it brought and the devastation.
After four years of vicious war with Japan most Americans were glad to see it ended, and due to the terrible casuslties of the war really did not have much sympathy for the suffering of the Japanese at this point in time.

The only good thing I can think of was that it ended the war quickly. The bad thing was that it exacted a tremendous toll on innocent civilians .
