It is related because Woodstock festival 1969 was a protest to pull soldiers from the Vietnam War, which was happening at that time. However, the main focus of the festival was aimed to support love, peace and freedom so the "hippies" objected to war and any discrimination. That is why a lot of loving happened at Yasgur's farm.
There was some relaxation of tension and animosity between the two countries, but not really enough to make much of a difference. The Cold War continued.

There is no connection between the 20th century Cold War and the US Civil War. One major difference was that the Cold War was not one nation seeking to break free from its original position. Which for the South meant its position as a state within the US.

The Cold War wasn't an actual war. No big battles, no large amounts of people openly killed. It was an arms race and an overhanging threat of war, not outright fighting as in WW 1.
The cold war showed others that America can do more then just stick their noses in other people's business. It showed America can accomplish more than expected. Also, the Cold War was a way of telling Russia to get off their back.
